Junior NOC Network Support Specialist

The Junior NOC Network Support Specialist is responsible for support for our client’s customers within a Network Operations Centre (NOC).

Responsibilities

  • First escalation point for all issues and events presented by team
  • A source of knowledge of our client’s processes, procedures, products, hardware, and infrastructure
  • Provide support to co-locations and network customers
  • Monitor network health and responds to event alarms
  • Analyze network traffic patterns and responds to security issues
  • Detect and mitigate Denial of Service (DoS) and Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks against our network and clients
  • Assist with provisioning, implementation, and supporting of customers
  • Work with Cisco, Juniper and Foundry router/switches, Netscreen and Juniper firewalls, and Foundry load balancers
  • Work closely with the network engineering team to troubleshoot and resolve advanced network issues
  • Monitor power and cooling systems for all data centers
  • Coordinate maintenance with vendors and remote technicians

 Position Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years hands on work related technical or network support experience required
  • Degree or diploma in computer science, or equivalent education
  • Certifications with Cisco and/or Juniper (CCNA/CCNP/JNCIA) an asset
  • Knowledge of firewalls, VPNs, and load balancers
  • Working knowledge and experience with layer 2 bridging/switching, TCP/IP inter-networking and routing with OSPF and BGP as well as an understanding of CIDR address allocation
  • Understanding of bridging/switching and most layer 2 protocols including Spanning Tree, 802.1Q, 802.1P, 8021AD and Transparent VLANs
  • Knowledge of Cisco, Juniper and Foundry hardware and software
  • Knowledge of Linux/Unix and Windows environment
  • Proven ability to work and excel in a fast paced environment
  • Shown to be self-motivated, adaptable, and a quick learner

  • Advanced customer service skills

Flexibility to work a 12 hour shift between 10:30AM – 11PM PT on a 2 week rotating schedule

  • Week 1 – Mon – Tue (on), Wed – Thurs (off), Fri, Sat, Sun (on)
  • Week 2 – Mon – Tue (off), Wed – Thurs (on), Fri,Sat, Sun (off)

This is a minimum 6 month contract position located in Vancouver, BC.  An excellent opportunity to become a NOC Support Technician.
