Senior Business Analyst (Mortgage/SAP)

We are looking for an Intermediate to Senior BA that has strong mortgage background for a minimum 6 month contract opportunity with our client.  The Senior Business Analyst is a key liaison between the business and Information Technology group. This individual will be responsible for requirements planning and management; elicit, analyze and validate requirements for new or existing process,  policies, and information systems. Understands business problems and opportunities in the context of the requirements and recommends solutions that enable the organization to achieve its goals on time and within budget.

  • Risk Management & Compliance Training
  • ITIL & COBIT Knowledge
  • Understands minimum system compliance requirements – very low to very high risk systems
  • Solid knowledge of SDLC
  • Solid knowledge of PMLC

Related Experience:

  • 5+ years of Experience creating Business requirement documents and experience in managing requirements from project initiation through to production release.
  • Strong financial services knowledge of on-line banking, retail banking, mortgage lending and visa processing at a minimum.
  • Experience leading detailed requirement phases identifying, tracking, escalating and/or resolving business systems issues.
  • Good listener with ability to document requirements in a manner that is detailed enough and clear enough to support downstream design and development activities

Specialized Skills:

  • Solid knowledge of on-line banking, retail banking, mortgage lending and visa processing at a minimum.
  • Solid understanding of current IT infrastructure components – needs to be aware of what we have in support of reuse where possible.
  • Solid knowledge of SDLC & PMLC
  • Strong customer focus and demonstrates a service oriented culture
  • Excellent analytical, attention to detail, problem solving and decision-making capabilities.
  • Strong English written/verbal communications skills are a must.
  • Ability to provide mentoring/coaching on best practices to project teams/junior team members.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with focus on time management to meet tight deadlines in a dynamic team environment.
  • Advanced level on Microsoft Office Suite, MS Project, Visio.

Business Requirements Elicitation and Process Flows

  • May act as a team lead for the requirements gathering process for projects, maintenance releases or support trouble shooting for defect resolution.
  • Facilitate requirements gathering sessions with business clients and other stakeholders to gather business and process flow requirements.
  • Accurately/completely translate results of requirements gathering sessions into useable project documentation.
  • Ensure requirements captured are clear (i.e. written in business language), accurate and detailed enough to support downstream design and development activities efficiently and effectively – i.e. there should not be room for “interpretation” of the business requirement by others.
  • Analyses and documents E-2-E business processes and flow “AS IS” vs. “TO BE”.  Communicates impact of changes for implementation planning.
  • Updates requirements documents as required to keep them current – throughout the full lifecycle of a product.  (Pre & Post Production.
  • Participates during training and/or knowledge transfer sessions as needed – i.e. train-the-trainer, new Bas, etc.
  • Ensures business requirements are clear and captured in such a manner to provide full traceability though the PMLC and SDLC to support quality assurance of applications prior to their release into production.  Establish the team / manage people, process and tools with consideration for each of the following:
  • Creates business requirements.
  • Creates functional requirements.
  • Creates user (stakeholder) requirements.
  • Creates quality-of-service (non-functional) requirements.
  • Creates implementation (transition) requirements.
  • Creates report specifications.
  • Creates / maintains the traceability matrix.
  • Supports IT processes to help ensure seamless transition from test à production.

 Testing

  • Strong analytical, problem solving and system skills needed to support testing of new/enhanced applications prior to release into production.
  • Good testing knowledge.
  • Able to document requirement gaps/defects for error correction.          

Performance Management and Development

  • May coaches and mentors project teams or more junior BAs.
  • Achieves performance targets.
  • May help establish performance targets for junior staff reporting to them/hold non-performers accountable.
  • May help with the interview process to ensure top performers with a track record for high achievement are recruited and retained.

Risk & Compliance 

  • Understands stays current with minimum policy & procedure requirements.  Ensures adherence to these.
  • Ensures business requirements do not deviate from minimum requirements without proper exception handling approvals.
  • Works with other internal staff experts to maximize the standardization and efficiency of solutions under development.

This is a minimum 6 month contract located in downtown Toronto, ON
