AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY:

Reporting to the Manager, IT Operations & Infrastructure provide installation, administration and support services for our client's Data Centre Technologies, including network operating systems, data communication networks, application servers and other associated technologies.  Troubleshoot and resolve network and system performance issues.  Perform system monitoring, operation support functions and co-ordinates the installation of communications hardware, software and cabling.

Implement, tune, configure & upgrade the network and server operating systems ensuring optimal performance, including but not limited to IOS, Cisco Works, MARS, Firewall Management Systems and Access Control Switches.  Review and evaluate alternative to support specific servers, applications and toolsets.  Monitor network performance, security, capacity and provide recommendations to ensure a proactive approach.  Ensure data integrity on network servers and workstations to mitigate risks of unauthorized access and virus infection.  Prepare and maintain installation and upgrade documentation, procedure manuals and hardware & software inventories for accepted standard network technologies.  As part of a team, plan and implement corporate wide client server architecture, security and network management.  Install and upgrade new and additional local and remote network segments and related technologies.  Participate on project teams as a technical resource.  Maintain awareness of developments in technology and standards, and provide guidance and recommendations regarding communications directions. Provide management and administrative support for the infrastructure, as required, 7 days/week 24 hours/day, this could include the ability to be flexible with work schedules in order to address fixes,  updates and installation of hardware/software products.

SELECTION CRITERIA:

• University degree/diploma in Computer Science or equivalent; as well as a combination of industry recognized certifications: Cisco CCNA, CCDP, CCNP certifications; Netware CNE certificate and Microsoft MCSE certificate;
• 2 - 3 years progressive experience in storage, network, data or systems administration support with demonstrated trouble shooting skills and an understanding of TCP/IP network communications and Project Management methodologies;
• Experience in the design, installation and support of LAN & WAN technologies including products from Cisco, Microsoft and Novell;
• Superior report writing and verbal communications skills required as well as an ability to work in a team environment.
