Training Specialist (Underwriting/Loans)

The Training Specialist (Underwriting/Loans) will design and develop training to support primarily the Underwriting business (and adapting the content for other departments as well) on Underwriting and Funding functions and related business processes. The successful candidate will be responsible for the development of all training materials (courseware, eLearning, simulations, work instructions, quick reference cards, online help) and create high-quality end user training sessions for delivery by business SMEs.

Responsibilities

  • Provide Knowledge Transfer to the business so they can deliver effective business process training utilizing a variety of training materials and course formats that deliver a consistent message for great results.
  • Conduct training needs analysis by interviewing Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and clients to collect necessary information to design and develop blended education solutions. Work with SMEs to determine the learning objectives and content required for courses.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to design, develop, review and sign off training materials deliverables that provide appropriate process and technical knowledge tailored to specific end-user groups.
  • Develop curriculum and design courseware, training guides, presentations, eLearning, exercises, trainer notes, schedule and online support materials keeping end-user audience needs in mind.
  • Develop objectives, storyboards, assessments, prepare narrative scripts and appropriate training media.
  • Incorporate all related information on business processes, workflow, interfaces, key changes and new terminology in each training module
  • Conceptualize and develop evaluation measures including knowledge checks, course evaluations and tests.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of training and course outcomes and review/modify training materials and user documentation as required/appropriate

Experience

  • Knowledge of instructional design theory and adult learning principles
  • 5-7 years experience developing both instructor-led materials and e-learning modules.
  • Previous experience working with financial services (nice-to-have).
  • Proven experience developing effective training materials using a variety of tools including Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, Excel, eLearning software (e.g. uPerform).
  • A successful track record of training delivery within financial services organizations.
  • Able to translate business goals into a set of requirements that can be supported by an appropriate training standard or solution.
  • Strong facilitation and coaching skills.
  • Multi-tasking in fast paced, deadline driven environment.
  • Energetic, motivated with great people skills; strong in building relationships.
  • Flexible, creative and able to set priorities tasks to meet project timeframe.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written).
  • Presentation and facilitation skills.

This is a minimum 5 month contract with likely extension located in downtown Toronto (work from home until deemed safe).
