System Administrator (Network Support)
The System Administrator (Network Support) will provide Windows/Linux server and network support. Additional tasks will include maintaining systems, troubleshooting customer-related issues and assigned project work.
Requirements
- Monitoring managed customer equipment
- Take lead on Project work
- Managing & monitoring the ticketing system queue
- Providing remote troubleshooting and onsite troubleshooting as required
- Performing administrative tasks and troubleshooting for managed desktop clients
- Reviewing and analyzing logs such as security and maintenance log files
- Escalating to next level technical/vendor support as needed
- Proactively contacting customers when critical events require
- Staying current with technology
- Participation in projects as required
- Some physical work/lifting is required
- Rotating on-call pager coverage is required. Schedules are mutually agreed upon, and can change in keeping with business needs
- Strong communication skills – written and verbal
- Excellent customer service skills in person, over the phone and via email
- Strong multitasking, troubleshooting and analytical thinking skills
- Good time management skills, the ability to work independently
- Strong customer service disposition
- Ability to multitask
Qualifications
- 4 years of Linux System Administration experience
- Good experience with Linux variants such as Centos, Debian, Red Hat, Ubuntu etc.
- 4 years of experience with Windows Server 2003/2008/2012/2016 and Windows Desktop 7,8,10 Admin
- Hands-on experience with VMWare
- Hyper-V experience is an asset
- Experience with various firewalls – CISCO, Fortigate, SonicWall etc.
- Juniper experience is an asset
- Understanding of Internet Services, DNS, Bind, SMTP-mail servers, Web-Hosting, VPN, SAN
- A good understanding of TCP/IP and general networking and systems security
